1 / Awakening – the work was displayed in the exhibition – “The Tel Aviv Biennale of Craft and Design – Works and Days”
The artwork is a tapestry composed of hundreds of coffee bean packages stitched together to create a rhythmic pattern. Collection of the packages began during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Some bear inscriptions indicating their country of origin, while on others, the coffee’s source has been obscured by various marketing brand names. This serves as a testament to the blurring of borders, the globalization of trade, and the shrinking of distances between nations and cultures into a single, small village. The piece has two sides, and this duality is an integral part of the work. Coffee has become synonymous with awakening and stimulation—a form of consumption that comes at a price.
Made from a blend of aluminum, adhesives, and inks, the packages are expected to take some 500 years to decompose; this represents the dark side of these raw materials. Beyond the inability to recycle the packaging material lies another dimension: a reminder of dark chapters in human history—of slavery and enslaved labor.

Through the act of weaving, I want to emphasise the human experience, as it is expressed throughout history and invite the viewer to think about the using paper. I tear / disassemble what I wrote and reassemble it. The decay of the material is illustrated as a mirror of the passing of time while the slight movement between the pieces of paper hints at the wind.
In the object – Human’s Reds – hidden a duality: sacred versus secular, totalitarian versus social, royal versus democratic, prestigious versus pop culture, spirit versus impurity, nobility versus simplicity. The weaving object that turns to one side, turns in the middle of the work to the other side, and comes to imply ideological transitions between right and left, inversions in space and discourse between them, similar to the constant movement of time and the undulating change between the poles in repeating history.
The physical and mental spirit, drive processes in space, time, and consciousness while constantly looking back and for and emphasise the duality and dichotomy in human nature since its inception and is expressed in social, political, spiritual, and psychological poles.
