warriors

With an emphasis on women – warriors. It is a subject I have been working on for many years, in a changing medium and in various sizes.

The series of portraits, ‘UGLY as HELL’, is a part of a large project based on an imaginary story of Heroines and Goddesses and their chronicles, which are documented in cave paintings, embroidery, daily objects, and sculptures, where a world of images is constructed and references to tribal and animistic cultures.

The portraits, represent skulls of ancient fearless female warriors, were made with materials and objects that were collected over the years. These objects were taken out of their original context and given ‘new life’ by transforming their contextual shape and structure.

Each one of the portraits in the series has unique personality with various humoristic elements that reflects the broadness of human characteristics.
